Default [Pending] DVD-Ram Help! Please

I recently purchased a new DVD-RAM drive and although my pc has found the drive (I have turned it on in setup as well) it wont read any dvd's or music cd's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im using windows XP

Hello MrRizla,

Welcome to PCHF.

Can you tell me what exactly happens when you insert a DVD. Any error messages. When you go to My Computer, and double click on the DVD drive, do you see any files listed there?

Also, this maybe a silly comment, but make sure your not using copied or scratched CD's, and the reflective part of the disk is in good condition.

Hello madmonkey and thankyou. Pretty much nothing happens when I put a DVD in, I get a cd image on my curser for a moment then it goes off. I dont see any files but I can see the drive in control panel. I can also see the properties but there is nothing in the list when I try to populate it

Have you tried any other CD's that contain data instead of audio/video. Like a Microsoft Office CD for example?

Also, what version of Windows are you using?
