Hey Guys, I not a wiz with computers but I know a little bit. The issue I'm having is with my USB ports. Since I had to change my motherboard I can't get anything to work when I plug it into the usb ports. Everytime I plug something in it it comes up with the "This is new hardware lets search for drivers" and even if it finds some drivers on the system it still doesn't work. Have tried going into devices and uninstalling usb ports but when it reboots it asks for drivers for the ports then doesn't work again. This is even with things like simple usb flash drives. I looked on the bios and everything seems to be enabled. I don't know about IRQ setting they could be wrong. Could someone help please?
Thanks

Hello TroyT, welcome to PCHF.
Are these onboard USB ports or ports that connect to the motherboard itself? |

Troy, if your using USB extentions, that connect to the motherboard. Make sure your using the ones that come with the motherboard, and not the ones you had on your last motherboard. These tend to be wired differently between motherboards. Also make sure they are not back to front!

The motherboard was installed at a pc shop. I've a feeling they didn't install all the drivers or all the correct drivers. The sound didn't work when I first got it back but I downloaded the driver and it now works. I've just moved and don't have the packaging for the new motherboard. How else would I find out what kind of Motherboard it is so I could get the usb drivers? I have belarc and it says the M/Board (Main Circuit Board) is Board: SiS-661.

You should have got a cd with the motherboard drivers on it when you purchased the board...
