Angry Suggestions for mobility

Well i have kind of an odd question and im not sure this is the proper forum but here goes. well anyways I have a powerful desktop and a well weak (900 MHz) laptop I would love to sit on my couch and possible access and play on my desktop some how. (from in the same room (pc and couch+TV are in my room) I have a wireless mouse and keyboard and mouse so that’s not an issue.
my GFX card has an svideo connector that I have hooked up to my TV but everything is very blurry. My TV also has a DVI-D port and well I have hooked up my PC that way but then I stumbled among MANY problems cant find right screen resolution, everything looks blurry and well it just didn’t work I spent hours troubleshooting but nothing. Note that I have a fairly old RCA Scenium 52-Inch rear projection HDTV. Do I have any other options.

Hi broken,

First off, you will never get a completely clear picture like you do on your PC from a rear projection TV, since some quality is lost by the time it reaches the screen.

Also, S-Video is not best connection to have from a PC to a TV. Certainly not on a 52", since S-Video resolutions are normally 576i (720x576) or 480i (640x480).

Best to stick with your DVI cable. You will need to find out what HD resolution your TV supports, as there are many different versions of HD. Here are some examples:

1080i or 1080p: supports resolutions up to 1920x1080.
720i or 720p: supports resolutions up to 1280x720.

Note: You may not see these resolutions until you actually plug your TV in, and is also dependant on if your graphics card and driver can support these resolutions.
