Default [Answered] Overheating

Hi
I read a post from one of our learned friends from PC HELPForum, about checking Disk Health. The advise was to download Disk Health from Softpedia
To my surprise I found that the external Floppy that I have installed, is overheating ---51 degrees!!
The error reads "The Hard Disk ST 32000822As s/n 5LJ1R7XN has overheated Current temp is 51 degrees."
I checked in Device Manager and this floppy drive is under Disk Drives only, (with no assigned drive letter. ) When I ran Disk Health the floppy was not actually plugged in to the USB.
Do you advise me to uninstall this external floppy ?
Your advise would be appreciated please.

I don't trust any of the temp readings from any third party programs And that just goes to show you why.

They are just a tool to evaluate a part of your circuitry. Each and every one of them will come up with a different reading. There is a temp sensor located at the CPU and can be read through the BIOS temp settings. Other than that, I wouldn't trust any unless it actually had a temp probe attaced to the actual piece of hardware that was being tested.

I agree, I have never heard - ever - of a floppy drive (internal or external) overheating...

Especially if it's not even plugged in!
I'd just not actually worry about it SNOOPY, unless you start noticing some wierd things.

Default Overheating

Hi Guys

Thanks a million for your replies. I must say I feel a lot better after reading your posts.
I had visions of disaster!!
I have had no problems at all with the floppy so I will just keep going.
Happy Thanksgiving
