Not sure where to post this, so I'm doing it here . . .
When I had my computer built, I was told that the motherboard-- an Asus A8V--failed one Irq test. I don't know what that affects, or what test it failed, I may have been told, but this was back in April of this year, so the old brain cells didn't retain that info! In any case, my microphone doesn't work at all whether plugged into the motherboard or the sound card. I unmuted all in case that was the problem, but still nothing. My sound card is a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS bought new from TigerDirect. The motherboard was used.
I added an extra USB hub, but nothing I plug into it works. I've bought an external USB hub to use instead, as I have a bunch of stuff plugged in, but . . . it doesn't work even though the slot I plugged it into does work. It was only 20 bucks, so maybe it's considered a cheapy.
I think there were one or two other things, but they've slipped my mind now I'm here writing this.
Except for those "minor" things, the computer has worked beautifully since I got it. But--I want to add sound to my sites--I've spent quite a bit on programs to do that, plus I have more usb gadgets than places to plug them in. So for me, these things are necessary. As soon as I"m able, I'm going to pass all this on to one of the boys and start over. They mostly game on theirs, so they won't miss a thing. But for now, is there any advice anyone can give me?
Thanks!
