I'm working on this desktop compaq evo at school. I get to keep it so I really want to get it working so I can use it.
When I power it nothing goes on the moniter [the moniter works] & I get a beep code, which I found it to mean there is a video card problem. Well, the video card is built into the motherboard. So I got another video card and put it into the expansion slot and plugged the moniter into the new video card. But still the same thing. Is the PC still trying to use the old video card? How can I get it to use the new one? Thanks, I really appreciate the help!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
This should be fairly easy to fix. You need to enter the bios (usually the "Del" or F2 key on boot) - when in the bios, you will need to dis-able the onboard graphics.
