Angry Windows XP Mouse Problem

I am currently using a Sysgration LTD mouse, model SAGM002 that came with my emachines desktop (T3085). I didn't have a problem until I downloaded and installed the Windows KB911280 patch. The only time I have a problem is when I am working offline on my website using WYSIWYG WebBuilder 3. It won't allow me to drag objects or text frames smoothly. It jerks them all over the place and I can't place them where I want them. I did a restore to a point just before I did the download, and the problem was gone. To be sure it was a patch problem, I again dowloaded the patch and the problem was back.
I foolishly created a restore point and in doing so entered the wrong date. Now I can no longer restore to the "good" point. I properly uninstalled the patch, but that only removed the patch components. It didn't fix the files that got messed up or corrupted because of it. I re-installed the WYSIWYG software, but that didn't fix it either. The patch either corrupted the mouse driver, or a file that allows it to communicate properly with my editing software. I want to re-install the mouse driver to see if that will fix it, but alas! separate software for the mouse was not included. I would have to reinstall by rebooting the entire computer. I am not going to do that. These patches have caused me so much grief, it seems they create more problems than they fix. I want to know if there is a site on the net where I can download the driver for this mouse, or another driver that will work with it. Please HELP!

Hi Jazzy,

Welcome to PCHF. Believe it or not, we have actually had someone with your exact mouse here before.

It is a generic mouse that emachines sends out with it's PCs. Have you tried disabling the Mouse in Device Manager, and allowing Windows to detect it and reinstall it?

If you need specific walkthrough details just ask,

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Wow, that is quick... (note to self-don't hit enter key in quick reply window) hehe. Anyways, I have very similar difficulty right now. Emachine T3418 with same mouse only mouse is not recogized at all by windows XP SP2 I don't understand it. I really need the wheel for a On-line game I play too... I tried rebooting, using install disk but found now mouse driver.... this is a little frustrating. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Larry
