hi , umm... i havent been here 4 awhile kinda miss it anyways im tryin 2 load some pics through my memory stick but it keeps on sayin insert disk into the drive when the stick is in !! i really need 2 do this fast cuz this computer isnt mine, so does this mean that there is something wrong with the slot it slef? i know my memort stick is working fine

Welcome back! Do you have any other usb item you can plug in to test the port?

Did you remove another device from the port before inserting your stick?

Perhaps you just need to remove everything from the USB port and reboot the computer to reset.

well i do have a usb cable that connects my digital cam into the pc but i dont have it with me.
i didnt remove any other device, there is nothing connected into the usb port.

So how can i fix this problem?

Do you know how to get into device manager?

Check to see that there is no yellow or red exclamation points listed next to the usb controllers.

Did you reboot the computer? Sometimes it is just that simple.

There isn't any other type of usb device nearby that you could try in the port?

i restarted my computer n still nothing, i dunno how 2 get into device manager , ?? there are no yellow or red exclamation points listed next to the usb controllers. there isnt any type of usb device i can use. gosh

It's OK, it is just the easiest way I know of to test the usb port. Is there possibly another usb port on the back of the PC that is not being used?

Try this, right click on My Computer, choose Properties. Click on Hardware, then Device Manager, that is where you would see the yellow or red exclamation points.

I know you are on a tight schedule, so if you can get right back to me I can wait here until you post back.

there r usb ports not being used but i dont have anything 2 connect the cam besides my memory stick, sorry if u waited yesterday , i am kinda on a tight schedule but its ok i have a couple of days since im at my cousins house, u c the thing is i left the usb port back in the states (im in my country right now, egypt) ill try 2 she where the yellow or red exclamation points n ill get back 2 u when i go 2 my cousin since im using a public computer right now
