Hi ka,

Code 48
The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48 )

Recommended resolution

Obtain and install a new or updated driver from the hardware vendor.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

This is from Microsoft support. If you go right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager and check to see if you have an error icon against your floppy? If you do, try updating the driver.
