Hi there,

Since this is not my area of expertise, I will leave this one in the capable hands of our tech team, Im sure one of them will come up with some idea's as soon as possible!

In the mean-time, could you post some more info?? what have you done already to try installing it?? any drivers installed??

Greetz,

RubenTC

Hey there ka_mcginnis

How is the tape drive connecting to your system, is it via Parallel or SCSI?

Once thing I have know with some tape drives in the past is that you need to turn it on before you turn the PC on.

So shutdown everything, turn the tape drive off.
Now turn the tape drive back on, boot up the computer and see if anything is detected.

Have you tried this tape drive on another computer, other than this Win98 machine?

  • When you connect the drive does it show up in your device manager?
  • Have you tried it on another PC?

Also (I posted it in your other post as well) Go into your BIOS and changing the port

Very good point there asa_sniper.

Does the tape drive connect to your PC via parallel or serial cable? (9 pin or 25pin)

If it is parallel then it is connecting to your LPT port so check your BIOS and change the port setting to ECP.
If it is already set to that then you should try changing it to something like SPP.
