Default [Resolved] - A bit of a Webcam problem

Hiya, New member, gettinga taaad annoyed at Webcams as of late.

I've recently bought a new Webcam, mainly becasue theone I used to have buggered up wasn't showing any video or anything so I Decided to get a Proper Web cam (my old on e was a Camera/webcam thingy) But I've been getting problems everr since I bought a proper Webcam, I bought a Logitech Quick Cam at first, installed al lthe software and Drivers for it and restarted and I get a window on start up afte the restart asknig me to Insert the Camera into the USB Drive, I do so and the Computer recognizes it as the Quick Cam and keeps switching between Quick Cam and USB device for soem reason then i get this Message popping up.

http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/1747/cam4qs.jpg

So I took it out of my Front USB ports and Put them into the back ones but I kept getting the same Message so after a couple hours of messing about and Downlaoding updates from the Logitech website I decided to take it back to the store I got it form and i exchanged it for a Labtec Webcam Pro, and I've jsut been installing that, restarted the PC and I get the same error message up, I've deleted my old webcam drivers off of the computer and the programs it used but I have no idea how to get this thing working, it's doing my head in. Any help would be brilliant. Thanks a lot.

Hey there Arnold, welcome to the forums.

Webcams can be a pain in the **** , you may have tried the following, if you have let me know.

Disconnect your webcam, uninstall all old webcam drivers and clear your temp files.

The insert the CD and start installing the drivers, during the installation process it should ask you to plug in your webcam (in theory), plug in your webcam.
Once installed you may have to restart your PC.

Let us know if that works.

Otherwise take a look in your device manager and see if your webcam shows up there, it may have a yellow exclamation mark.

Out of interest what version of windows are you using? The error message you were getting was related to incorrect drivers being loaded.

USB Device, it doesn't say the camera name jsut USB Device.

and I'm using XP pro

Try to right click on the USB device and and choose 'Reinstall drivers', you want to manually search for the drivers on your CD, so when the option comes up click on browse, locate the WinXP folder on your cd and see if it installs the driver.

Thanks a lot, I jsut had a browse through the Disc I can't find any win XP Folder on the Disc, I go to the CD and Go to the drivers folder which brings up 2 Folder Bin and WinNew, I click WinNew and it comes up with 3 folders:
ELCH
WCPRO
XPRS

I've looked in all 3 of them and they all have inf files in there which I need and I've tried them all and nothings happened, I Get the same error again about the Driver instaillation is missing a necessary entry and the INF File may have been written for windows 95 or later.

I'm having no luck with these camera, doin my bloody head in ;_;
