  3. Once upated reboot your machine and boot into your BIOS. On your PC you would use F2 to get into the BIOS, then press F9 to load bios defaults. Then press F10 to save changes and exit. If you are stuck then you can find more info in your manual here - http://download.asrock.com/manual/K7VT2.pdf
  4. Boot into windows again and try to plug your camera in.
If this doesn't make any difference then click on 'Prework' in my signature and download and run Hijackthis and post the log file.
Alrighty, I did that ^^ and now I'm getting that the "This Copy of XP isn't genuine blady blady blah apy 92 pound to make it genuine" stuff, I popped the Camera back in and still nothing =/ But here is ther Hijack this log ^^

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Not much but these can be fixed with hjt:
(in safemode)

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\about.htm
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [RealPlayer] "C:\Program Files\Real\RealOne Player\realplay.exe" /RunUPGToolCommandReBoot
O19 - User stylesheet: C:\WINDOWS\sstyle.css (file missing)

And i also see you have both nod32 and avgfree installed and running. It is not recommended to have two AV's running at the same time , that can cause performence and conflict problems. I would uninstall/disable one of them.

and now I'm getting that the "This Copy of XP isn't genuine blady blady blah apy 92 pound to make it genuine" stuff
Do you have your original CD and license sticker?

If you do then you can contact microsoft and they will validate your system. Once validated you will be able to run the windows update which you require.

I don't have Any CD, I never got given one from the shop I bought it from, got al ot of CD's with drivers on nd things but never the XP disc or key, so the only way to get a genuine copy is if I pay 92 pound to micosoft for it to be genuineized.

and thanks for the Hijack this stuff, I deleted those 3...camera is stil the same but if they were bad then it's good to have them gone and I disabled a Virus scanner as well so nothing gets conflicted.

I wasn't sure if this would be donig anything, but the camera is a labtech Camera....I also have a Labtech keyboard I didn't think of thi before but could they be conflicting with each other and the keyboard not makngi the camera work?

Unfortunately without having a CD, and a genuine windows installation we can't run the programs we need to (e.g windows update)

I highly recommend that you go out and purchase and Windows XP license and validate your version of windows

I highly doubt that this could cause the problem but you could try disconnecting your keyboard once in windows and plug your camera in, you can then use the mouse the scroll through device manager and see whether you still get conflicts.

You won't lose any data unless you reload your computer.

Once you have the genuine license you can run the Windows Activation wizard:
The Windows Product Activation Wizard is located in System Tools. To open a system tools item, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click the appropriate icon., then click Activate Windows.
You should then be able to enter your product key and activate your computer.
