Unhappy Computer wont show Video on monitor

I have a Proview Lcd Monitor a Radeon 9600 SE Video card a MSI 865PE Neo2-V Mother Board a Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive a Elements ZPower Corporate Series 500W power supply dont know 1 Gig of Ram 3 fans 2 cdrom drives and a floppy drive (that i never use). I've had this for almost a year and it worked fine up untill a week ago when it would randomly shut down acutally it didnt go through the process of shutting down it just powered off like it had been unplugged. this has happened about three times. there were a couple times where i would loose signal on my monitor but the fans and led lights would still be running on the comp but usually if i just reset it i would get video back on my monitor. Now i cant get video at all i've already ruled out the video card being bad by testing it in another computer and it worked fine. Im hoping its a power supply problem any one have any ideas. im going to be testing the monitor on another comp meanwhile to make sure thats not the problem.

Hi there and welcome to PCHF

You could be absolutely right about the PSU - can you test that at the same time as the monitor?

The only way you can really test it is to plug it into another PC. A bit of work but it may prove your theory.

Default Both!

It looks Like both my power supply and motherboard is screwed one of the connecters on the powersupply melted while plugged into the motherboard so the connection on the board is all burnt and i can see how far up the wire it has been burnt because the plastic insulation is darker up to a certain point. the good news is that i have a warranty on both parts the bad news is i have to wait a long time to get my parts back also i dont want the same ****py power supply after that has happened. sadly this has happened to both my brother and sisters computer within the past six months im curious to what causes the cables to burn up or melt on the board? and thx for your help
