Default System powers, but no boot up...

I am afraid that I may have just simply damaged something on my computer. Basically, all I did was transfer my computer from one case to another...now it doesn't work. When I hit the power button everything powers up, but it doesn't go into a boot sequence or send any information to the monitor. The fan on the video card is still running, so the video card atleast is getting power. I'm really not sure what else to try...

Like I said the only thing I have changed is the case the computer is in, so any suggestions as to a resolution to this problem would be much apprediated.

Thanks,
ShanesterB

Hey Shanester,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a terrific team of techs here, and I am sure that we will be able to figure out where the glitch is.

Unfortunately, the hardware gurus are not currently online. I am sure that they will will be on soon, and will be happy to give you some ideas of what to check.

Keep an eye out for their posts.

No, there are no beeps or anything...all that happens is the system gets powers...fans spin, hard drive spins, video card fan spins, motherboard gets green light, and the cd drives will open and close...

Double check if everything is connected , and firmly in place. Maybe a missing power plug to the video card , or the extra square 4 pin motherboard power connector? (if you have it)

And does the monitor come out of stand by mode when you turn the pc on? (light changing from orange to green probebly)

And did the pc used to beeb when turning it on? And is the speaker from the new case (correctly) attached?

Yes, typically there is a beep as the system is booting up. With the moitor it is connected to it doesn't change the state of the monitor, but when you turn the monitor off and then back on it says something to the extent of "no input received" and then goes to power save mode. I will check all the cords and such and let you know if any positive progress is made.

Alright, so I have found out that there is no 4 piece power connector on the motherboard, I know what you are talking about and this one doesn't have it. I have disconnected all the power and ribbon cables and reattached them, with no luck. The motherboard is the ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe. We may try swapping out motherboards or something just to get down to what is causing the problem. Keep the suggestions coming....

Thanks
