Angry Logitech QuickCam communicate STX

I have installed this webcam with my son on the other end. We can see each other perfectly and I can hear him speaking clearly .

However, nothing we have been able to do seems to fix the problem that he cannot hear me. I have taken the camera back to the shop and they tested the built in mic which they say is working.

We are at a loss to know what to do, short of taking both cameras back and asking for a refund.

Any ideas, before we do that?

We have compared set-ups and made sure that however he has his camera set up, mine is the same. We have tried MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger.

Thanks

Hi AndyI!
Welcome to PC Help Forums!

Can you go to Volume Control, and then go to properties, you can select the input device here. Make sure the webcam, and not your sound card is selected.

Also I moved your thread to here, because the Important Information is not the forum where problems should be post. As you're new to the site, no point. Remind it in the future

Hey there and welcome to PCHF,

It definately sounds like it is just a sound configuration problem, follow Bluefish's advise and let us know whether that helps, if not let us know and we will give you some more advice.

Whilst you are in the volume control can you make sure that you mic volume is set to more than half.
Also go to the Advanced controls of the mic and enable the mic boost.

Hi there, AndyI. Welcome aboard the good ship PCHelpForum.

I would like to warn you to be careful setting that mic too high. I also have a Logitec Quick cam and boy is that mic sensitive...once you get that working that is.

What program are you using to chat. The most common are MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger to my knowledge.

In whatever program you are using the most probable setting you want for input/microphone will be a LOGITEC MICROPHONE. That option should be available in a drop down menu in the audio/video setup.

Also remember that Logitec drivers install Backweb Lite, which can be detected as spyware. I'm just adding that so that it's not alarming if you find it on the scan. It can also be safely removed unless you want your Logitec drivers to update automatically.
