Hi, everybody. I am new to this forum and i have some issues with my pc. I bought a new computer case today
http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRa...82E16811156175
when i took out my mother baord from my old computer. I accidently knocked off one of the pins/ or something that sticks up on the motherboard.
The problem i have is, i still continued on and wired everything up and stuff, and wen i tried to turn it on, it shows a little bit of power on the fans for like .5 seconds then it shuts off. I cant turn the pc on.

I want to know if i need a new motherbaord for my computer

and also, one of the person on the newegg site stated he has the same problems, so could the problem just be wit the power supplies?

Hi Itszztom,
Welcome.
Please could you be a little more specific about what you knocked off. If it was just a power pin you might be able to have it repaired at a local computer store, if not, it might be a little more serious.
Cheers
BTW nice case

Hmmmz welcome to pchf itszztom soundfs like your motherboard has been fried due to powering up the mobo after it was damaged. Your best bet is the computer store. They have the equipment to diagnose your mobo

Hmmmz those black things are condensators. If I were you I'd buy a new mobo. Spending money on a diagnose is, in my opinion, wasted money.
So unfortunately you can declare your mobo dead.....

ouch. Do you guys have any recommendation for a lower price motherboard that works fine.

I have an intel pent 4ht 2.8ghz processor, 512mb ram(2x256 pc2700), going to upgrade to 1gb* and a 160gb hard drive.

i found this cheap one on newegg, will this do?

That one won't do since your ram speed is 333 and not 400/533/etc. And it only supports ata drives so you'll have to transfer all your data from your old hd to dvd's or usb sticks.
A cheap brand to use is, don't know if it's sold in the states, ASRock, a mobo made by asus sold cheaper, a lot cheaper. Just like linksys is actually cisco.
