Default [Fixed] Red Screen of Death?

Hello everyone, I think something is terribly wrong.

I was playing World of Warcraft last ngiht when all of a sudden my screen went blank,my monitor went into power saving mode like my computer has shut off but here is the problem. my pc was still running. i powered down manually then restarted but i couldnt get the monitor to show a picture, i swapped out monitors and it still wasnt working, i finally got a picture to come up and get back into windows but only for a few minutes before i recieved the red screen of death. i've never seen this screen before and it wasnt very helpful with the problem. i read somewhere that the red screen is generated by BIOS, i just swapped out my video card thinking it was the problem and it still wont work. anyone have an idea to what the problem might be?

Email and IM removed. Its not a good idea to post these on a public site as that can lead to spam.

Thanks!

Hello joeyfine and Welcome To PCHF,

Can I ask if you are running Window's Beta version of Vista? Or Windows XP.

Im running XP, im pretty sure this is a BIOS error but it gives me no idea what is failing. I was curious to see if anyone here knew why this was happening.

I cannot find anything about a RSOD expect for the new Longhorn/Vista. As there will be no longer a BSOD for it just red. And seeing as you changed Monitors and video card's, I would have to say it may be a motherboard problem.

Hey there Joeyfine and welcome to PCHF.

It sounds like it may be "heat" related, would you be able to run the following programs so we can rule this out:

You could have a look with one of these apps to see if it is a heat problem:
