Default touchpad issue - please help

Hi,

My gear:
I own a Hp pavilion laptop 17" zd 7000. I recently bought and installed Microsoft external/wireless mous and keyboard. (not really wireless since you have to plug in a cumbersome usb adapter).

My problem:
Ever since I got the external keyboard and mouse, the touchpad on the laptop acts funny. The sensitivity is off balance, highlighting and moving text as I type, there seems to be an action activated that clicks on things everytime I touch the pad, and sometimes even when I am no where neat the laptop I hear clicking...

I run adware and norton every week. Firewall my internet, and all the precautions.

Can anybody tell me if they know how to fix it or if they had this happen to their computer? Any help appreciated. Can't figure it out.

Thanks,
M

Quick question, do you actually need the touchpad now that you have the external mouse...or can we dis-able it?

Dear Hengis and Bluefish,
Thanks for writing and sorry for the late reply. I have been out of reach of my computer. My Laptop is the HP as quoted above. The Wireless keyboard is Microsoft Comfort Keyboard 1.0.

When I am not at home, I do not use the wirless gear and that is why this issue has to be resolved. I think that the software has thrown off the pad by making it ultra sensitive, making it click by itself, text is highlighted and transported all over the screen - work is nearly inmpossible. I am wondering whether there is a problem with the wirless mouse software overwriting something or is there a bug concerning the computer (i.e. some virus or spyware making it go crazy).

Some of these suggestion might be obvious and erroneous to you. This is my first computer that is not a Mac, so I am new to the concept of problematic machines.

Again, any help is appreciated.

Best-
M

 Hey Marcel,

My welcome to you as well. It may be that you have simply created a conflict between the wireless connection and the onboard touchpad.

Can you please disable the wireless mouse temporarily and see if that resolves the problem with the touchpad?

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN
