Default Crashing

Hey - I was hoping someone can help me with something thats been happening on my pc for a while - I finally snapped though and its getting really stupid.

Sometimes when i play a game for no reason my pc will just crash - you know its happened instantly because the screen freezes and all sound stops - you cant move the mouse either. It now only seems to happen when im playing a game - t doesnt happen much though - proberly about 10% of the times I play but its really stupid. Any help wil be appriciated.

I ggogled the problem and came up with this solution which was in response to someone 's problem practically identical to mine

Yes, the problem may be due to hardware acceleration. It helps fix the problem (But may not compleately stop it) if you disable it.

The following instructions are for Windows XP on how to disable it:

Right click anyware on desktop
Select properties
Click settings tab
Click advanced
Click troubleshoot tab
Move hardware acceleration tab to none (To the left)
Click OK
Restart your computer

Do you guys think this might help? I wanted to run it by you first, Thanks

You could always try it and set it back if it doesn't help , but:

Move hardware acceleration tab to none (To the left)
Try it one step at a time , no need to immidiatly completly disable it.

Also have you installed upto date drivers? And what are youre hardware specs , and with wich games does it happen?

You could have a look with one of these apps to see if it is a heat problem:

Updating your graphics card will be simple, but first could you post the make/model of your graphics card.
An easy way of finding out you card information is to go to START - RUN and type DXDIAG then press enter.

Once DXDIAG loads click on display and post the model and make of your graphics card.

We can then provide you a link to your driver updates
