can anyone help me, I have a hp pavillion dv4000 laptop with windows xp and the other day i had the laptop on, running on ac power. I left for about 2 hours, when I came back the laptop was off, and it will not turn back on. I dont know what happened. At the end of the charger wire there is a green light to let you know its getting power, whenever I plug it into the computer the light turns off now, and there is a spark where it plugs in. I took it all apart and tried to see if anything was burned or something but didnt find anything. Also, when I plug the charger in, the light goes off and the charger makes a clicking noise. please someone help in this forum or at ncerda1@houston.rr.com

 Hi ineedhelp2,

Welcome to PCHF, we have a great team of very talented techs here with a wide variety of computer skills and I am sure that we will be able to help you.

Have you tried replacing the charger? Hardware issues are not my area of expertisse, however, we have some amazing hardware gurus who should be able to give you some things to try.

Just remember, don't panic.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

ok, I think maybe I know how the problem started but I do not what happened or how to fix it. The laptop was running on an hp charger but it was an hp officejet ac/dc adapter. I think maybe this could have done something to it? I went and got the real charger that was made for it and it still doesn't work. I don't know if it goes through the battery and maybe the wrong charger fried the battery or what? but it will not turn on still. Anyone know what could have happened?

 Sorry INH2,

You will be lucky if you only fried the battery. First thing I would do is to get a new battery and see if that works, we'll cross our fingers for you , and look forward to your reply,
