Any opinions?

Hello and welcome to PCHF

To be honest I would say it probably differs from board to board.

I know I have connected a power switch the wrong way round and the cable has fried before my eyes.

Putting the reset switch on backwards shouldn't really affect the boot because all it is doing is shorting the connection.

But then again they do label things positive (+) and negative (-) for a reason. (I guess :read2: )

Let see if anyone else has any opinions.

If you want you could post the make/model of your board and I could find out more info for ya.

It's a Jetway N2PAP-LITE, relatively obscure I imagine.

Some opinion seems to be that reversing the connection causes the system to think that the reset button is contantly being pressed and therefore the boot doesn't get as far as the post stage. Elsewhere I've seen it said that the polarity of the connection is irrelevant.

It all depends on how finicky your motherboard is. One of mine has to have them on facing out with the name son the cord's out. My wife's pc it does not matter one way or the other. But I think it is always good to have them the correct way just in case.
