Default My PC Fan

Firstly i would like to say hello to you all as you will see Ive just registered here and am looking for advise and help.

Tonight i have noticed that my fan doesn't sound right. I hear it blowing the usual sound but every 20 -30 sec its giving a hard blow as if going to go fast and then it nearly stops for and continues to blow easy.

As said this has just started 2 hours ago and I'm unsure of what is going on. I'm worried to be honest.

I have done the belarc software thing to gather info if you need any.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there and welcome to PCHF!

Well, to be honest, apart from obvious obstructions there isn't much you can do to fix a fan. I would suggest checking it thoroughly for dust etc and if there is none, consider buying a new one as the bearings may be going and it could stop altogether soon.

Hi all just to add. I have it open and the fan on the motherboard (can you tell I'm clueless) is not going its the fan on the back of the case thats only going.

I take it thats supposed to be going so is bust.

oops, i was going to give you the name on it and went to spin it by the blade with a pencil and it started to spin and has continued to do so. What have i done and is there a problem with it.

Any advice would be great as i fear i break it.

** Just noticed the reply sorry*** Any advice on what ive done

Well, I don't think you have broken it...if it wasn't spinning and it now is...you've fixed it (for now).

Its a good idea to replace it for it quits completly , but to make sure , is it the fan of youre processor or motherboard?

And im afraid you will need to turn youre pc of for atleast a few minutes while replacing.
