Default [Resolved] NO BOOT AFTER MULTIPLE REPAIRS

I AM DEALING WITH A COMPAQ PRESARIO, HP MODEL # DW142A (AMD ATHLON 64 / 3200 +) 512 MB RAM

ORIGINAL CALL WAS TO REPLACE THE MOTHERBOARD, AS SYSTEM WOULD NOT BOOT AT ALL. I REPLACED THE MOTHERBOARD, AND THE COMPUTER NEVER ENTERED THE BIOS SCREEN AT ALL.THE CD LIGHTS FLASH BACK ADN FORTH AS IF TRYING TO READ THE DRIVE, BUT THE SYSTEM DOES NOT TRY THE FLOPPY DRIVE.

I HAVE NO WAY TO FORCE IT TO OPEN THE BIOS. IT DOES NOT RESPOND TO BOOT DISKS EITHER.

SO FAR, I HAVE:

-REPLACED MOTHERBOARD x 3 + RAM
-REPLACED POWER SUPPLY
-REPLACED AGP VIDEO CARD WITH A PCI CARD
-REPLACED CPU AND HEAT SINK

I'VE CHECKED THE VOLTAGES AND EVEN THE A/C CURRENT IN THE HOUSE WHERE THE COMPUTER IS INSTALLED. NOTHING OUT OF PLACE.

ANY IDEAS ABOUT WHAT ELSE I CAN CHECK????

Try to boot the system up with the bare minumum installed,
  • PSU
  • Processor
  • Motherboard
  • RAM
  • Video Card

See whether you get anything displayed on the screen.

If it is a brand new motherboard then you might need to change the "Clear CMOS" jumper on the motherboard.
Check the manual and double check the setting on the board to make sure it is not enabled.

Let us knwo how you get on, or whether you have already tried this.

Yes i did try it with minimal stuff - even tried putting the board on the anti-static bag and loading only the psu, hdd, video, ram. Still no video, no boot.

I tried the same scenario with the pci and agp cards - no video signal. The monitor is working correctly.

The led for the hdd shows that it is busy, and the cdrom's show busy as well.

on one attempt, i did try to reset the cmos - unfortunately, compaq's instructions are not that great, and the warranty company does not provide the manuals for the motherboards - so i don;t know if i actually reset the CMOS or not.

No prob

To reset the cmos its probebly enough to remove the powercord and the motherboard's battery , you might? temporarely have to switch a jumper araond though.

Do you know the model of youre motherboard?

When i search for "HP MODEL # DW142A" on HP's page i get directed to a "Compaq Presario S6900NX Desktop PC" , is that youre pc?
