Solved: Help with random PC lockups.

Been having random lockups with my PC lately. I have tried just about every kind of troubleshooting to at least know what the problem is.

When I get the lockups, nothing shut downs. the heatsink all fans and HD are still going. I restart, and its like nothing ever happened. The event log shows nothing. Just to be sure I reverted my BIOS settings to defauly, flashed my BIOS and checked the connections for everything inside. All seem fine. The lockups are not consistant. Sometimes they happen after 5 min, sometimes 5 hours. Does not seem to matter what I am doing at the time. My PC does not seem to be too hot or cold (running 95-120) either.

My specs
3.2 GHZ socket 775 P4
Asus P5p800
1024 RAM DDR1
5200 Geforce FX
WD 200 gig HD
2 PCI cards Linksys wireless card and a dial up modem
a 400 watt Antek power supply.

Please help me, it is starting to affect my work and no one has yet been able to suggest much.
This has me very stressed, and I dont know where to go from here.

Welcome to PCHF.

Sounds to me like your power supply is faulty. Have you the facility to try another power supply?

Hi thanks, seems like a good forum.

No, but I am about to. But if its the PS, how come it boots right back up fine...and everything continues to 'spin' during the lockups?
I thought when the PS is bad, it shuts down?

I'm guessing but a "blip" in the power supply could create a state of confusion within Windows, thus leading to the lockup. The other reason I suggested PSU is because it appears that this is one of the things that hasn't already been done.

Thanks for replying, I will try to change PS in a week (soon as I can buy one, and for it to arrive, off of ebay). I will admit I have had problems with this supply before.

I will post an update to see if the supply solves it.
Just in case though, what are some other possibilities? (if any?)

I would borrow one if you can before spending money on a new one.
