Default IDE Cable

Hey,

Im building a new computer. The motherboard only has 1 IDE channel, but thats cool, i only have a cd rw and a hd. But i have a problem, the ide cable comes with 3 joints. 1 from the motherboard and two for the device. My problem is that my hd and cd rw are to far away and the two connectors for the devices are to close apart, so they can reach eachother. Is it ok if i use the end of the IDE cable that usually joins the Mobo to the cd rw, then join the moddle connector to the hd and then lastly join that last connector to the motherboard, or cant you do this. im pretty much saying that i am joining in the reverse... Thanks...

Default Re: IDE Cable

You will not be able to achieve this on most PCs. The order of the drives within the PC (Master, Slave) are governed by their position on the IDE cable. By all means try it but I think you'll be out of luck....much safer to buy a longer cable
