If you replace the power supply to a higher psu yes it will work if your video card is not trashed! that is why it is best to test things b4 you buy other's... Alienware power supplies are verry good power supplies. They use Antec True power psu's. I would still recommend testing the cpu.

I'll be home tomorrow to test the CPU, however I've had problems in the past with video cards and now I think I know why.
On to my next questions.... Will a bigger, let's say 450 watt power supply, fit in the spot where the old one does? And where is a good place to buy one? Thank you all, you are EXTREMELY helpful. |

if your graphics card requires a 400w PSU then i would reccomend going for a 550w to 600w PSU just to play it safe.
this one is a bit pricey but worth it i think http://www.pricegrabber.co.uk/search...arch=cheap+psu or there is this one http://www.pricegrabber.co.uk/search...arch=cheap+psu |

Not bad. I was thinking of spending 100ish US anyways.
Will those fit in my old slot however? And do you know of any site that can help you replace the power supply? Once again, I love you all and thanks for the help. :-) |

what type of case do you have, usually most PSU's are held on by 4 screws at the back where you plug in the power cord, unscrew those and it should just slide out ready for the new one to slide in
