I am trying to do a clean install on a computer, however the system keeps locking up when the install comes to the "SETUP IS STARTING WINDOWS" screen.

i found this in the FAQ under the WIndowsXP site that you should disable everything on the motherboard. I have done this with still no success. Do I have a faulty motherboard???

Any tips I can try???

To make sure it isn't a hardware compatibility prob , Did you have XP installed before on that machine?

Everything is NEW. Never been installed before.

Try to dis-connect as many things as you can and only leave the minimum of hardware installed ,remove things like a second hd , sound card , netwerk card and only one cd/dvd player enz , and try to install again.

I have disabled everything but the one IDE channel. I have the HDD and the CDrom on it. Still no change...

I think next I'm going to try flashing an old bios to the MB...

Did you also try to re-install windows with the setup you have now?

And what bios version do you have now? The latest?

I have tried the two bios available for the motherboard...

I have never installed Windows yet with this board. However I have another board the same and have done a setup with it. I then have swapped the boards and run Windows with no problems.

This board just doesn't want to co-operate.
