Okay, a little less than a year ago i built a new computer;
Pentium 4 W/HT (2.8ghz overclocked to 3.2) 800mhz fsb 1mb L2 cache
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 8x agp 128mb
ECS Elite Group 848P-A Motherboard
Sound Blaster Live 24 bit
768 DDR RAM
40gb 5200 RPM Samsung HD (SLAVE)
30gb 7200 RPM IBM HD
52x36x52 CD-RW Drive
16x DVD Rom Drive
120mm Rear Exhaust Fan, 4 80mm Case Fans
XDreamer 2 Limited Edition Case
So, My case came with a 350W Power Supply and i used that for about 9 months. One night, all the LEDs on my Case flickered, while the pc was off, and i couldnt start my pc up. I took a 220W power supply out of my old PC, and put it in, and it is running again. I have had it in there for 2 moths now, and it seems like it is very slow. I play games like world of warcraft, and it seems that my framerate is much lower than before. I wanted to know if that is due to the fact that my PSU is only 220W and my video card recomends at least 350W and that burnt out.... I also wanted to know if there was any programs i could run to see how much each part of my PC is consuming, and what size power supply i should get. I was thinking 450 would be good to be safe. Also, if your not familuar with my case, its a real pretty one, its got 6 Blue LEDs in the front and a thermometer, Im guess that also takes up more power. Besides that everything is great. I am also running Windows XP Professional.

Wow, I'm surprised you are running at all with a 220w PSU! As far as a new PSU goes, you've gotta go with as much power as your pocket can afford - start at 450w.
Nice case btw

It is very possible that the power supply is causing the speed difference.
Try a 350 or as Jdawg recommended a 450. (always better to go bigger)

First thing, This is more like my case, i just have some green case fans in the front bezzle for the hard drives, so i get a pretty green glow.? :-D
. Thanks guys. I just dont have the money right now to buy a new one. I dont have a job yet, 17 and school is ending. And parents dont like the fact that im on the computer a lot. My new question is wheter or not it depends on what company, and how do i know if the power supply is a quality one. I would rather not buy a fan with an exhaust that blows air into the case, simply for the reason that hot air isnt good. I found these, please let me know what u think.- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817170009 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817192001 - http://www.directron.com/guardian550w.html - http://www.directron.com/atx450pmax.html If you have any suggestions that would be awsome. Thanks again guys for responding so fast. Also, this question might be out of place, but i think it would be cool to know if any of you play World of Warcraft, and know any ways that i can make it run better for the time being that i have the 220W PSU, or even after. So far i thought that i should just unplug my optical drives, and take my side pannel off(removing one fan), and turn off 3 other fans. Other ways such as Tweaks in my PC for better game play would be great.

Hi there & welcome to the site
![]() You're right about hot air being a no no in your case. That's why I would always go for a PSU that has an intake fan right above the CPU plus and extract fan at the back. That way a lot of the HOT air hanging around the heatsink etc gets expelled really quickly and efficiently. Out of the four you have linked, I would go for number 3 (plus it has a cool blue LED? ) & it's powered for the future.
