Windows 7 is officially here
By: Metal Mind | Posted 10.23. 2009Yes, it’s official - Windows 7 is available globally, both with new PCs and in standalone packages, ready to remind you that there is life after Vista.
Claimed to make a PC user’s life easier, Microsoft’s latest operating system comes with a streamlined interface, faster startup, resuming and shut down times, enhanced power management, higher performance than its predecessor, DirectX 11, an improved Windows Search, Windows Touch technology for multi-touch actions, Internet Explorer 8, Windows Media Player 12, the HomeGroup networking system for easy sharing if data and printers, and many other, more or less interesting things.
“With Windows 7, there’s never been a better time to be a PC,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. “Together with our partners, we’re bringing more choice, flexibility and value to the market than ever before. With Windows 7, you’re sure to find a PC that fits your life.”
Windows 7 has four editions - Starter (OEM only), Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate, the last three costing about $120, $120 and $220, and, as mentioned, is already out in stores. To find out more about Windows 7 be sure to see Microsoft’s website. Now excuse us while we go format the last remaining Windows Vista partition.
