Called Google Editions, the upcoming service is going to sell ebooks which will be available for reading both offline or via the web browser on desktop PCs, notebooks, MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices), mobile phones, and other types of gadgets.
Upon launch Google Editions is expected to have between 400,000 and 600,000 books to offer, which is more than Sony and Amazon have on their ebook stores. Google is reported to collect 55% of the profits and share much of that with retail partners and also publishers.
Google Editions is set for a release in the first half of next year.
