Apple goes after Woolworths’ new logo
By: CompuZap | Posted 10.5. 2009Apple is once again on a legal offensive, this time the target being Australia-based supermarket chain Woolworths and its green new logo. The Woolworths logo, which is a ‘W’ stylized to look like an apple, is not the Cupertino company’s liking who thinks it resembles with own apple too much. As a result, Apple will be asking IP Australia to reject Woolworths’ trademark application for the logo and thus prevent its use.
Apple’s biggest concern regarding the trademark request is that it covers electrical goods and technology too, which would enable Woolworths to sell things likes PCs and electronics bearing the fruity logo. Since it thinks it’s top fruit when it comes to electronics Apple can’t have that, hence the new IP battle. Bets are now open so you can bet on the winner.
