Mcafee icon
Start the Mcafee setup program.
The license agreement immediately pops-up. Read it carefully and when you agree press Accept. (click any image to enlarge)…
At the next screen, press Next.
Check the Create a virusscan desktop icon box and choose Next. Creating the icon will give you easy access to the program.
Now the program will be installed, this will take a few seconds to minutes, depending on the configuration of your computer.
After the installation you’ll be asked to participate in the virus map project, press Next when finished.
The SecurityCenter wizard appears, as well as the McAfee system tray icon, press Next and Finish.
Now to update the program rightclick on the ‘M’ icon and choose Update and check now. McAfee will now search for updates and will ask you to install them. When asked to choose Update once again.

When you’re using the trial version the Registration wizard will appear, press Next and follow the instructions.
After registering, make sure you perform updates again (described two steps back).
Now for configuring McAfee goto Start, Programs, Mcafee, Mcafee Security Center.
Goto the virusscan tab and choose Configure.

All options are set as they should be, but by going to the Scheduled scan tab you can schedule a full systems scan, which is a good idea if many people are using the same system, or when a lot of files are downloaded on the system.
Before finalizing the configuration goto Scan my computer, check all local drives and press Scan. If/when a virus is found you’ll be notified and told what to do.
